We are installing the trial of FuseTalk and experiencing a few problems.
We are actively working on these and hope for a resolution next week.
Many of you have emailed us about the chat room.
Here is the latest information on plans and why it has been down so long.
s previously noted, the chat room server crashed. We found after a lot
of diagnostics that the software (WebBoard) has some conflict with newer
Windows NT updates. We have not kept the service contract so no real
way to address. We had decided some time ago that WebBoard would not
be our long-term chat room platform.
We have been investigating a variety of solutions such as the common
PhP chat room you see on many sites (free but eliminated as too many
security
bugs) and possibly hosting with the company we are working with on ticket
presales. We have decided that we will likely go with FuseTalk which
gives us some very powerful management features, including an effective
way to stop trolls.
We had to wait for our new servers which are almost completely installed
(funded via your Amazon purchases on this site) and now our system administrator
is working on the FuseTalk trial install. This is more complicated than
you might think, especially as his wife just gave birth to her first
child and this really is not is "real" job. Then, we have to
finish contract negotiations with the company.
I talked with him yesterday (8/7/07) and he believes he can get the trial
up by no worse than the end of month.
I know the wait has been long, far greater than I ever expected but so
things go in implementing new hardware and software. I think everyone
will love the new chat room and I hope you guys enjoy the trial.
As I get updates on launch staus, I will post them
here.
Thanks and Tullian yours,
David Coursey
